Including Dave Carroll and the Sons of Maxwell, one of my favourite bands who happened to roll through the night I was working in the kitchen. Dave is a lovely guy and phenomenal musician who went big a few years back when United Airlines broke his Taylor guitar on a flight from Halifax to O’Hare. When they wouldn’t replace it, he wrote what ended up being three songs about them, and premiered the second one to an audience of about fifteen very lucky people that same night. They’re all on YouTube, and are a bunch of fun, particularly before flying anywhere.
In appropriately Nova Scotian fashion, he’s since faded back into relative obscurity and, I think, gone back to playing local halls and volunteer firefighting in the small town of Waverley.
